In San Diego

We checked in at our hotel a while ago, and now we're getting ready for a night out in San Diego. I forgot the shoes I had planned to wear and most of my clothes in the car that's parked quite far away, so I will have to wear whatever I have with me.. Jeans, converse and a t-shirt. Comfy at least!

Weekend

Friday morning started with a walk to Santa Monica downtown where we met up with my cousin Amanda and her husband Mick who just arrived in California. It was really windy and cold outside but we decided to take a stroll down Venice beach. We landed at Ale house, and then we went to a little Indian place to get some take away food.

That evening we went to my husband's work holiday party which was so much fun. It was held at a really cool place in Downtown LA called One eyed gypsy. Check it out if you're in town! Unfortunately we didn't know it was a 1920's themed party, but luckily there were props like pearls and feather enough for everyone. I wish I had brought my camera!

On Saturday me and Amanda went to The Grove, where Christmas always is kind of crazy. No fake snow (yet) but otherwise it's been Christmas since Thanksgiving over there.

We met up with the boys and had lunch at one of my absolute favorite places in LA; Farmer's market. There's something calming about slowly walking through the market, just breathing in the air and thinking about what to have for lunch. There's so much stuff to look at that it's almost like time doesn't exist in there. It's sounds silly, I know but once you'll make it a Sunday habit going there, you will know what I mean.

My very stylish cousin Amanda.

On Sunday it was raining all day, and we didn't really feel like doing anything. We went to Huckleberry for brunch, and even though we had to stand in line for about about half an hour it was really worth it. Great coffee and the Croque monsieur was amazing!

For dinner I made Sea bass with Gnocchi. I've never made this before but with a little (a lot) of help from my dear husband I did it!

I stole some pics from Amanda.

Bambi on ice

Last week we picked up Ted at the airport, and went straight to an event that Melrose Mac was hosting at the outdoors iceskating rink in Culver city. It seems like food, drinks and some skating can do wonders for jetlag!
I haven't been out on the ice since I was 13 or something, so I felt like Bambi at first, but after a couple of wobbly rounds around the rink I was doing pretty good, if I can say so myself.

LA Galaxy event

Last week we went to a LA Galaxy event which was pretty fun. The whole team (except Wilhelmsson) was there and Beckham held his last speech while the crowd was cheering and begging him to stay one more year. We couldn't resist the $2 dollar beer and $1 dollar hot dogs of       course, even if it included getting mustard all over the face.

MLS cup final

Last Saturday we went to the Home depot center to watch LA Galaxy become this season's MLS cup champions. It was a really good game. As you know it's been raining all week, and so it was Saturday morning as well, but just as the game started the sun came out. And after the game it started raining again. Oh well, it was really fun to see them win, and to see Beckhams last game with LA Galaxy. I wish he was going to stay though.
The rain didn't stop us from doing a bit of tailgating before the game. I don't have a raincoat myself so I brought my husband's bright blue one and it kept me dry. When I say tailgating, I mean that we had a couple of beers outside the stadium. We're not yet as advanced as the americans that brought party tents and barbecue grills and food for half an army.

Grey skies

Yesterday I took a walk down to the beach. It's been raining these last few days, and the sky and the ocean looks so dark and dramatic. I quite like it. Together with a Sunday roast it made a perfect ending to the weekend.

Colin & Sarah

I had totally forgot to post any pictures from the wedding we went to in Palm Springs a couple of weeks ago. It was a beautiful wedding, and the setting was breathtaking! I actually have more pictures from the night on my other camera (I call it my party camera since I can squeeze it into almost any clutch, the other one is a little more bulky.. and expensive) but I can't find the charger for that one so you will have to settle for these photos.

MIMIc

Yesterday we went to a screening for a movie I did some set design for last year. It is called MIMIc and it was the first time I saw it. It was so interesting to see how the room we built came alive in the movie. Three other short films were also shown and they were all very good. Afterwards we had a couple of drinks in the cold outside the theater. It's actually getting cold in L.A. I've been freezing these last couple of days, but I like it in a way. It feels cozy to wrap yourself up in a blanket, and finally I'm able to wear all my wool cardigans!

Palm Springs bound

I'm sorry for this week's lack of blog posts. It's been a really busy week. Here are some photos from last weekend's bachelorette, it was so much fun! Now I'm actually on my way to my friend's wedding in Palm Springs. So excited!

Coffee, lots of coffee

Good morning!
I look super tired, right? Haha. I'm just going to take a quick shower and then I'm off to my friend's bachelorette party! I'm really looking forward to it. We're going to a couple of vineyards for some wine tasting, and I'm going to be on a party bus for the first time. Excited! Have a good weekend everyone!

Farm shop

I really enjoy those days when you don't have anything special planned, and can just do whatever you feel like. This past Saturday was a day like that. We decided to take a walk to Brentwood country mart, have lunch at Le pain quotidien and check out the farm shop. It's a fun place to go to, just to look at all the stuff they have, like expensive truffle salt, cheese and wine. You can also go there for lunch, or maybe just get something sweet from their bakery.

Yum

A couple of days ago my husband's boss from London was here for dinner. My husband made this drink when he arrived, and for some reason it's called Pornstar martini.  It's basically 50/50 vanilla vodka and passion fruit purée, mixed together, with half a passion fruit on top. It's served together with a shot of cava, or prosecco. It was so delicious! Will definitely make this drink again!

My hometown

11 questions from Amanda:
1. Why did you decide to start a blog?
I started blogging because I love to write and take photos.  I also wanted to share my life and experiences here in LA with friends and family.

2. What do you do for a living, and what do you wish you were doing?
Right now I work in a clothing store here in Santa Monica.

3. Where do you live and where do you wish you were living?
I live in Los Angeles, in Santa Monica to be specific. I love living here, but I wouldn't mind trying out another city one day... Maybe New York.

4. Favourite designer(s)?
Isabel Marant, By Malene Birger, Zadig & Voltaire and Marchesa... It's pure art. On the cheaper side I love J.crew.

5. Favourite author(s)?
I don't really have one... The only one I can think of right now is Curtis Sittenfeld.

6. Favourite travel destination(s)?
Every place I've been has been fun in some way. I love Italy for its food and lovely culture, India for its craziness and vibrant cities and New York because it's just an amazing city.

7. Favourite pair of shoes?
Right now it's my Minnetonka ankle boots. You can find them here.

8. Favourite item in your wardrobe?
This brown leather clutch that my mom bought in the 70s, or 80s. It goes with almost everything, and I love the details.

9. Where do you go/what do you do for inspiration?
I get inspiration from a lot of things; people, magazines, blogs, old photos.

10. How would you describe your style?
I guess my style is a bit romantic and girly, but also preppy. I like jeans, but I also wear a lot of dresses and skirts, especially to work.

11. Describe a perfect day.
I have breakfast at home with my husband. The sun is shining so we decide to go to the beach for a couple of hours. After that we stroll along the beach, and maybe have some frozen yogurt. Hopefully I buy something, haha. In the evening we meet up with some friends and/or family and have dinner at a nice restaurant. It's still warm outside, even though it's quite late. We decide to go home and light candles in our little patio, and just sit there and have a glass of wine and talk. I love to sit outside in the evening!

A day off

After two weeks of being sick I'm up and about again! Therefor I was a little extra happy to spend a day out in the sun for the first time in a while. I just sauntered around the flea market that is held twice a month at Santa Monica airport, looking at things and enjoying the weather.
