My favorites

This past Sunday the Oscars was held here in LA, and one of my favorite things is to look at all the pretty dresses. Here are my favorites this year:

Though I've heard that many thought Jennifer Aniston's look was boring, I thought her dress (from Valentino couture) was absolutely gorgeous. I especially liked the fact that she didn't overdo the jewelry, her sparkling bracelets were just perfect.

Another really pretty one was the dress Anne Hathaway wore, not on the red carpet, but on the Les Misérables performance on stage at the Oscars. It's custom made from Armani, in silk mesh. I thought it looked way prettier on tv, and I love the boho style.

Swedish actress Alicia Vikander looked stunning in her ice blue Elie Saab dress. I can't even say how much I love this dress. I think it's perfect.

But, the belle of the ball was Jennifer Lawrence. From the moment she entered the red carpet she looked radiant. Her dress (from Dior Haute Couture) was dreamy and wonderful. She won the Oscar for Best actress, and even though she fell on the way up to the stage she managed to look elegant like a princess.

Sunday cakes

A lazy Sunday calls for something sweet but quick to throw together, like pancakes. Today we decided to make some Swedish ones.
I put some berries and a couple of teaspoons of sugar in the blender, which was delicious with the pancakes.
Tomorrow is President's day, so we're both off work which is very nice since it makes the weekend feel longer.

Montana

If you're ever in Santa Monica I think you should pay Montana avenue a visit. There you can find tons of good restaurants, bars and fun shops. We live within walking distance from there, so we often end up strolling down the street, especially now when the weather is getting nicer and you can have a drink outside in the sun.

Canals and Swedes

This weekend we had some friends over who recently moved here from Sweden. We decided to spend the day in Venice, and took a stroll through the beautiful area of Venice canals, which actually gave Venice its name. Abbot Kinney wanted to recreate the Italian Venice here in California.

Then we headed to Abbot Kinney blvd, which is one of my favorite parts of Venice. When we sat there, enjoying the afternoon sun, two Swedish friends showed up from nowhere and joined us.

When the surfers went home, we did too. The sun was setting and made the canals, if possible, even more beautiful.

Superbowl

Last Sunday was Superbowl Sunday, which is a really big thing in this country. A lot of people even want the following Monday to become a bank holiday. I am not at all interested in American football, but I feel like I have to give it a chance since I now live here, and if everyone here loves it there must be something more to it, right? Or maybe it's not the game as much as the gathering of friends, the food, and the half time show, which was performed by Beyoncé this year.
And, oh, the commercials of course.
We were pretty tired, but made a last minute decision to go to Redondo beach to see the commercials game. Beyoncé, great commercials and friends made it a great day.

Hey

Hey there.
Sorry for the lack of posts recently. These last couple of weeks has been fun, but really busy! I just started to work full time for the first time in.. a long time. So I am trying to get it all together and that's why I haven't had time to blog. When I get home at night I just want to have dinner, watch a movie and go to sleep, but since we're both working a lot now there's so much to do around the house.
But from here on, I will start making time for the blog because I think it's so much fun to share photos and experiences with you guys!

These are from last weekend when we drove up along the Pacific coast highway to Ventura. It's so beautiful up there.
