Sunday bbq

Today we went to a barbecue at our friend's house. It was nice just hanging out in their garden and chatting. We haven't seen Beans in quite a while either, and she seemed to be happy to see us too, even though she was a bit more interested in the chicken on the grill.

Party in Encinitas

So here comes some more pics from the last week of 2012. We went to a party in Encinitas, where you were supposed to dress up as yourself as a kid, and bring the picture from when you were little with you. We went to a thrift store in San Diego, and I found the perfect outfit, even though it's not very flattering. Mattias even made a fanny pack out of his toilet bag, which was a pretty convenient place to put the camera. Maybe we should make it trendy again? Or not.

My cousin Amanda was dressed like when she was a bridesmaid at my parent's wedding. I remember always being so jealous of her because she was in their wedding photo, and not me. Somehow it didn't occur to me that I didn't exist back then, haha.

 The party was really fun, and a lot of people had managed to get really good outfits. As you can see, there was even a guy in a diaper on the dance floor. Why not?

Home for flowers

Last time I went to Ikea I got these two small vases. I think they're really cute, and they're perfect for when you take a walk and accidentely (sort of) stumble on beautiful little flowers that are in desperate need of a home. 

Meatballs for dinner

Yesterday we had some friends over for a quiet dinner at out place. We made meatballs after my grandmother's recipe, together with mashed potatoes, gravy and fried cabbage with lemon and whole grain mustard. I think we made a little bit too much of everything, especially the meatballs. But then again, what's tastier to put on a sandwich than butter and cold meatballs? My grandmother almost always has meatballs or beef patties ready in her fridge, and it's still my favorite to put on a sandwich when I'm at their house.

We still have some meatball batter left in the fridge, so I think I will make a meat loaf tonight. 

Almost like summer

I can't believe how good it feels that it's finally Friday! Today was a quite warm day in LA, almost like summer and apparently we're getting more from where that came from over the next few days.

Tomorrow some friends from Santa Barbara are coming to visit, and my husband's friend from Australia is here on a business trip so we're all going to hang out.

Sunny days

We had some friends and family here in California during the last couple of weeks of 2012. I have quite a lot of pictures from those days, so I thought I'd post some of them. First, we went to San Diego, me, my husband and our friend Ted. We stopped for coffee in San Clemente, a little town I've never been to before.

I didn't take a single picture with my camera in San Diego, but I can assure you that we had fun. We had Indian food at a really good place in The Gaslamp district, and then we went to a couple of fun bars.

The next day we had lunch at a thai restaurant (actually the same that we went to last year) but sadly the food was really bad this time and not at all as good as I remembered it.

After doing some thrift store shopping for that night's party (more about that to come) we went to Stone brewing company and enjoyed good beer and somewhat good food. We wanted to do the tour, but it was fully booked, but we had a good time with our beers in their beautiful garden.

 

Yesterday in pictures

Yesterday we took a walk down to the beach in Santa Monica. Sometimes I get swept off my feet yet again by this beautiful place. The sun, the beach, the ocean... it takes my breath away and I am forever grateful for being able to live here.
Enough with the gibberish, but we had an amazing day yesterday, and I've decided I am going to start carrying my Canon with me more often.

Palm Springs

I stole a pic from my friend Trine. Here we are, all of us that stayed in Palm Springs. We had such a fun weekend. Thanks to the Rossi's for having us!

Back home

Yesterday we got home from our little road trip. We spent the last two days with friends in Palm Springs and had a really good time. Right now we're just resting at home because we all got a bit sick unfortunately.. I'll be back with pictures as soon as I feel better!
